Meet Virginia

Our trip started in Virginia, my favorite place on earth.  Our week and a half there was a perfect mix of fun activities and relaxation.

The Children's Museum of Richmond is so great.  It's one huge room with lots of different stations which is perfect for a one-year-old with a 2 minute attention span.  We took Uncle Ty and my pseudo-sister Lanie with us.

Lots of girly time.  Only 3 of these are my sisters but we love all these cute girls.

Stony Point Splash Pad.  At first Jilly was nervous, but she quickly started having fun and especially loved the ice cream cone at the end.

Canterbury Swim Meet.  Tyler's IM race was so exciting- he was in 4th place after the first 2 strokes, but once he got to butterfly and freestyle he pulled ahead and got first in his heat.  Perhaps the next Michael Phelps?

Cousin Kirra.  My sister-in-law Kristen is also from VA and she was visiting her parents at the same time, so we met up at the mall one morning.  Jilly and Kirra are definitely cousins- both girls' ultimate goal was to race away from their mother as fast as they could.  And they are fast.  I can't wait to see all the mischief they'll cause throughout the years.

We also spent lots of time at the pool, playing in the backyard (if we were at home Jilly could almost always be found at the back door saying "ide ide" asking to go outside), shopping, watching The Bachelorette and Boy Meets World, and eating yummy food.

To me, the big difference between Phelps and Tyler is that Phelps is motivated by gold medals and Tyler is motivated by blue lollipops. I guess it's just different strokes for different folks... Go Tyler!
