here we go

Jilly and I are about to embark on our semi-annual trek across the country.  We're so so excited to be back in Virginia with family.  But before we can leave I have 2 questions-

1. What Kindle Fire apps do your kids love? We'll be on a plane for a looooong time and I'm hoping for lots of fun, new distractions.

2. Does anyone know where I can locate Hermione's beaded handbag?  I'm in desperate need.

I would like her coat, thank you very much.

Our girls both love these random Rock N Learn sight word videos (the first is free - you're going to die laughing when you see these random charaters). I realize Loula's not absorbing the actual sight words, but these little snippets are her favorite. (Belle has learned some words from them. They're super catchy. Watch out, you'll be humming them in no time.)

We also love the Zubadoo fairy tales. We have four. I love them because even without sound, you can read them and the little characters in the "book" move so it keeps their attention. You can also set it to autoread, which is great when you need a babysitter. What? :)

We also love Giraffe's Matching Zoo, Preschool and Kindergarten Learning Games, tapfun's alphabet game (each letter is interactive - there are even hidden actions if you tap around enough, and REmarkable"s Mix & Match Puzzle. Most of those are free I think?

As you can see, I depend heavily on the Kindle Fire for my survival. Ha ha.

Good luck on your trip!

As far as the Kindle Fire apps are concerned, we love Sound Touch (lite because its free), Kid Zoo Animals, Kid's Match 'Em, and of the free games from Remarkable Games for Kids. I also found a free episode of Sid the Science Kid that is still available to download. Just go to videos, then store, and look up Sid and scroll down. You should be able to find it.

When Elise and I flew out to Utah I made a fresh batch of playdough for her to use (she'd never had it before). I also bought her a little gift from the goodwill and wrapped it up so she could open a present on the plan and she thought that was great.

Her most favorite thing that kept her entertained for at least 45 minutes was taking the golfish I dumped on our tray and putting them one at a time into my empty plastic cup. She'd do that over and over and over again. It was great.

She loves to play with the airplane tray table mat I made for her. If you are in the market for a craft between now and then, check it out.

I also brought probably 20 packs of fruit snacks, several of those fruit squeeze it things and lots of m&m's. She really was so good on this flight I was shocked!!

Good luck and have so much fun in VA!

When I first read this I thought you were being serious and you wanted Hermione's bag because it is cute, but then I realized you probably want it to make packing easier! Good luck! Traveling with little ones is not easy and it only gets harder as you add more. We learned that last week when we drove to Colorado!
