flashback

April 16, 2011 - I had forgotten how bald she was!
 April 14, 2012 - same trail
But this time she was big enough to sit in trees!
and do some hiking of her own!

Good grief, will someone please tell this child to slow down?!?!

Greatest Show on Earth

On Saturday we went to the Circus with Bryan's parents.  The highlight of the show was Jilly eating her first piece of licorice.  She loved it and was covered in red stickiness for the rest of the day.  The licorice also gave her a nice sugar rush- she was literally bouncing up and down until she crashed and fell asleep.  Perhaps not our finest parenting day, but we sure had a lot of fun!

Believe it or not, this is the best picture of the day.  Circuses do not lend themselves to picture taking.

Pinecrest

Last weekend Bryan's family was camping at Pinecrest but we had to be back for church and I had just barely gotten home so we just went for the day (my kind of camping!)

The boys had fun cliff jumping in the lake
(Bryan blends into the rock, but if you look closely you can see him!)

Jilly ate her first ice cream cone and LOVED it!

Chad caught us some yummy fish

I think we'll make a habit of this "day camping"

One Year

Auburn, CA - September 2010

Auburn, CA - August 2011

I guess it's a little less than a year, but still- it's amazing what a year can do!  I'm so glad we have our Jilly girl to go on adventures with us now.

21 Day Challenge

My wise mother taught me that the best way to help yourself feel better is to dress better.  Whenever I was tired, nervous, or not feeling well she'd tell me to wear something nice and I would feel more ready for the day.  And, what do you know- she was right (as always.)

Nowadays I usually only see Bryan, Jilly, and a handful of strangers at the grocery store during the day.  But I still feel better when I get dressed.  Yes, some days call for jammies.  But on the days I get dressed I feel ready for anything.

Kayla from Freckles in April is doing a 21 Day Challenge.  She'll give a daily outfit prompt and anyone can participate.  The thought of taking a picture of what I'm wearing everyday is just about as appealing to me as tearing out my own eyeballs (yes, that bad.)  But, I think this will be a fun little adventure and give me more of a reason to get dressed.  I'll miss the first week since I'm leaving on a little trip, but I really want to try it when I get home.  So, will you do it with me?  Pretty please?!?!

Jelly Belly

On Saturday we went on a tour of the Jelly Belly Factory.  It was fun to see how jelly bellies are made and of course we enjoyed lots of free samples!

Us and the Yagers- don't you love our fancy hats?

Please note the massive amount of jelly bellies Tommy is holding- because it was buy 3 get 3 free we each paid for a bag and got a bag free.  Also, please disregard how ridiculously small I look next to everyone- I blame it on standing behind the carseat!

If she thinks she's going to eat all of those herself, she's got another thing coming!

During the tour there is a room full of Jelly Belly art (see example of Abe Lincoln below.)  At the end of the room there was an easel covered with a sheet and they said that it was a brand new piece of art they were going to reveal for us.  When they took the sheet off there was a big heart and the words "Marry Me Karley" in jelly bellies. A guy in our tour got down on one knee, busted out a gorgeous ring, and proposed!  It was so exciting.

We even got to take our own Jilly Belly home!
